Completing the Quest[]

Pre-Quest[]

First, players will need to find the Lost Journal, which is leaning against a barrel in a tent next to an oasis in the Whispering Dunes. To find it, run straight coming through the Gauntlet entrance, past a hill with a lone cactus and a smaller oasis. After this, return to The Gauntlet (Hunter Occupied) and talk to Dr. Henry Bones and present the journal to him to officially initiate the quest. He will send the player to find the two remaining pages --- one located in a slanted cave close to the oasis with the journal, and the other on top of Tethaffut's Anvil. In addition, the player must also find his son Mississippi.

Page 1[]

To find the first page, travel straight from the journal oasis, in the direction of the palm tree. Continue until you find a ravine with a small campfire below. Jump down to the campfire, and collect the first page of the journal.

Page 2[]

To find the second page, continue to run straight in the same direction as before until you find The Outpost, a village with lots of tents, buildings, and interactable NPCs. Enter through the ribcage bone path and run straight to the exit surrounded with sharp spikes. There should be a bandit camp nearby. Go a bit to the left, and you will spot a canyon/cliff with a large rock at the top pointing towards the nearby bandit camp. Enter the canyon through a small crevice right below the point of the anvil. Go through the canyons, avoid the bandits, and climb to the top (it might be complicated for first-timers, refer to the visual guide below if you can't figure out how to navigate the canyons). At the very tip of Tethaffut's Anvil, near a lantern, lies the second journal page.

Visiting Sunken Palace Ruins[]

After the player has found both pages, they will need to deduce where Mississippi is from the pages in the journal (The Lost Palace, aka Tal-Rey's Temple). From the top of Tethaffut's Anvil, there is a cannon nearby that can allow the player to return to The Outpost. Tal-rey's Temple is near The Outpost, and accessed from the spike-surrounded exit (again, refer to the visual guide if you have trouble locating the temple). Just jump off the anvil and take a left just before reaching the bandit camp, you will see the temple up ahead. Before the player enters the temple, they must repair one of the mirrors and rotate the others on each of the corners towards each other until the laser forms a pyramid. When it is accomplished, the screen will shake and players may enter the temple.

Entering Tal-rey's Temple[]

The door will appear underneath the most excavated corner. Entering it will take you to the first room, with four bandits and the door to the second room. In order to open it, the four bandits must be killed.

Once the player enters the last room, talk to Mississippi Bones. Reveal to him that he is not Tal-Rey by showing him his journal. Once Mississippi finishes having an existential crisis, the room will flash white, and the real Avatar of Tal-Rey will emerge from Mississippi's freshly disintegrated body in the form of a glowing, golden, bird-headed deity.

Choosing a Vase[]

Initiate conversation with the living deity and he will challenge the player to choose the right vase from the pile next to them. Here, the player must select the brown broken vase that is not on the top of the pedestal. I repeat, the broken vase NOT on the pedestal. Basically the most worthless looking vase. If the wrong vase is chosen, the temple rumbles and the player immediately dies. Once complete, Tal-rey will reward the player with a weapon of their choice due to their wisdom. After you collect your weapon from Tal-rey, you will be teleported out of the temple. Return to The Gauntlet (Hunter Occupied) to turn in the quest to Henry Bones.

Rewards[]

If the player chooses the correct vase, Tal-Rey will offer them a choice of one of three different level 45 weapons --- a Warrior's Sword, a Mage's Staff, or a Hunter's Dagger. Return to Dr. Henry Bones in The Gauntlet (Hunter Occupied) to talk to him again, and the player will receive 9,993,150 experience and 60 Silver. Completing this quest will also grant the player access to the Archaeologists Shop in the Outpost.

NOTE: THIS QUEST CAN BE COMPLETED AGAIN AFTER REBIRTH AS OF 9/5/2022. THE PAGES OF THE BOOK MUST BE RECOLLECTED TO BE ABLE TO CHOOSE A VASE.
