Overview[]
The Terror of the Deep, commonly referred to as the "whale", is a Level 51 Miniboss found swimming in the depths of the Terul's Maw waters. In an earlier time, it was an extremely dangerous level 27 Boss swimming in Shiprock Bottom.
Attacks[]
Chomp: If the player swam to the same level the Terror of the Deep is swimming at, the Terror of the Deep would make a mad dash to gobble the player up unless they swim above or below it.
Strategy[]
Current[]
For Terul’s maw, lure it under the island with the sunken lab and it should get stuck.
Old[]
Back then, the most common strategy in killing the Terror of the Deep was having a dedicated ranged fighter lure it near to the Scallop Shores portal and getting it trapped in a wall, allowing melee fighters to safely combat the Terror of the Deep. Hunters may have also used Shunpo to clip inside the Terror of the Deep as a means to continuously and consistently land strikes.
The Terror of the Deep could be lured by being in the same height as it, and then it dashing after you. You then had to jump upward. Warriors could have also used their Combat Roll ability.
Notes[]
- The Terror of the Deep can be found dead at the Slaughterbay sublocation in Port Fidelio, with spears everywhere on it; it is no longer fightable. An image is also found in the Fishing Docks sublocation, hung on the wall as a painting. The Terror of the Deep is also found hung by its tail near another Terror which is much darker in skin tone. Another one can be found hung in the Moglo Docks sublocation in Terul's Maw.
- This mob, when first introduced, dealt the largest amount of damage in the game, even surpassing the later Sarakis the Impaler. The only way to survive a strike from the Terror was by getting lucky with blocking.
Tips[]
- One of the most common ways to defeat Terror of the Deep is to have a Knight lure it to the Moglo Docks and beach it, effectively immobilizing it, and allowing players to level up extremely quickly.
Trivia[]
- The Terror of the Deep appears to be a Sperm whale, a type of toothed whale that preys on other sea life.
- The Terror of the Deep is probably a reference to the white sperm whale Moby Dick, in the novel of the same name.
