Overview[]

The Spiderling is an enemy found in the Spider Abyss, Enchanted Forest, and Spider Queen's Lair. They are some of the only Mobs that do not have any Drops, excluding event drops like Fireworks and Candy Corn.

Although Spiderlings spawn naturally in the Spider Abyss alongside regular Spiders, the Spider Queen can summon Spiderlings and its Giant Variants with her Rallying Screech attack.

Spiderlings do not have much defense nor health, so it typically only takes a whack or two to kill one. However, they are not to be taken lightly, as one attack can drain a large portion of health away, and normal variants are hard to hit with standard melee attacks due to their small size. A horde of spiderlings can easily kill you if you don't kill them first, as they move much quicker than you if you don't sprint. They'll catch up to you easily if your stamina depletes.

Supersized Spiderlings that are spawned by the Spider Queen or in certain rooms are even harder to kill due to their high health and high damage output. Spiderlings mostly attack in hordes, especially when the Queen summons them all at once, so rallying a group of Spiderlings would potentially cost a player their life if they attempted to kill them all at once. But, this is also the most effective method, so it is a high-risk high-reward thing.

Attacks[]

Pounce: The Spiderling pounces towards its target dealing a massive amount of damage to anyone standing within the range of where the pounce lands.

Strategy[]

Using a Bow is a very effective way for hunters to deal with these pesky monsters, although hordes of them may still be an issue. It is impossible to tank these high damaging mobs without a healer because of their tendency to attack in grouping waves.

Using Flare, Meteor or other large attacks for mages can easily kill a whole room of spiderlings. This does not apply to the supersized ones, though it will heavily damage them. Surprisingly, Shadow Flurry and Shunpo are effective against hordes, though it may take a few tries.

If attempted melee, it is best to group them together where an AoE or splash damage attack can clear all of them at once. For Warriors, it is recommended to jump and use Ground Slam at the second you wish to attack. For Mage, Pure Mana bomb is recommended. For Hunters, using Shunpo and cutting through the spiderlings multiple times is also effective.

Supersized spiderlings typically drop many scrolls on death.

Trivia[]

  • The term "Spiderling" means a juvenile spider, implying that these are children of the spiders or their queen.
  • The Spiderling, Divine Slime and Sunken Savage are some of the few mobs who drop absolutely nothing.
  • They are considered stronger than spiders due to having higher attack and movement speed.
